Minorities and Women AI Designation Scholarship

• Be a minority as identified by the U.S. Census Bureau: Black, Asian or Pacific Islander, Hispanic, American Indian, Alaskan Native, or Female
  
  
• Be an Appraisal Institute Associate Member in good standing, working toward an MAI or SRA designation. Since Trainee Associate Members are not yet on an Appraisal Institute Designation path, members in this category are ineligible for this scholarship.
  
  
• Have Appraisal Institute membership dues paid in full for the year prior to the quarterly review date. To view your dues invoice, click here.

• Scholarships may be applied only to Appraisal Institute courses on the MAI or SRA designation path:
  
  MAI Designation Education:
  • Advanced Income Capitalization
  • Advanced Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use or equivalent
  • Advanced Sales Comparison and Cost Approaches
  • Advanced Applications
  • General Appraiser Report Writing & Case Studies
  
  
  SRA Designation Education:
  • Residential Market Analysis and Highest & Best Use (15 hrs)
  • Residential Appraiser Site Valuation and Cost Approach (15 hrs)
  • Residential Sales Comparison and Income Approaches (30 hrs)
  • Residential Report Writing and Case Studies (15 hrs)
  • Advanced Residential Applications and Case Studies/Part 1(15 hrs) (Course & Exam required)
  • Real Estate Finance, Statistics, Valuation Modeling (15 hrs)

• Scholarship award must be used in the same calendar year in which it is awarded, and cannot be retroactively applied to courses an applicant has already taken.
  
  
• Applicants must submit an application for each course he or she would like to be considered for an award.
  
  
• Scholarship money will be paid directly to the chapter sponsoring the education. Scholarship monies are for the course fee only.
  
  
• Applicant may apply for only one AIET Minorities and Women Designation scholarship per quarterly review, and can be awarded one AIET scholarship per year.

1. Prior to the quarterly review date, applicant will fill out this online form, and in Step 3 upload the supplementary documents, which include:

a. 500 Word Essay stating why applicant should be awarded the scholarship. This essay should highlight professional goals and experience, financial need, involvement with local AI chapter, and commitment to achieving an Appraisal Institute designation;

b. List of Appraisal Institute courses taken to date;

c. Resume or statement of qualifications; and

d. Other documentation to support application.

2. The Scholarship Review Committee will determine recipients, based on funding available and the application, and all scholarship applicants will be notified of the status of their application, via e-mail.
   
   
3. Within two weeks of receiving an award, the recipient or the chapter must submit proof of course registration to the AIET c/o the Appraisal Institute Diversity Committee.
